About Yuko Yamashita
As a young Japanese stylist, Yuko met countless women who were unhappy with their hair. The most common complaint was unruly hair that had to be styled every morning, and the mere suggestion of rain would make it frizzy and uncontrollable.
Yuko wanted her customers to have beautiful, healthy hair without spending hours getting it that way, so she approached a Japanese sports, health and beauty company called Phiten, and worked with them to create the Yuko Hair Straightening System which has been taking the world by storm for over ten years.
The straightening process
The special straightening process utilises collagen, keratin and silk protein, which penetrate the hair follicle. A hot iron promotes heat oxidisation to leave hair smooth, radiant and manageable with minimal effort. Yuko’s is the original and leading hair straightening system. It also requires skill and a proper assessment of the condition of your hair, and can take up to six hours, so a booked appointment is essential.
Bookings and consultations
- A consultation is required before making an appointment for the straightening service
- A £100.00 deposit is required, which is non-refundable
- The cost of the straightening service is between £250.00 and £350.00
Aftercare
Aftercare is important, and it is essential that you:
- do not wash your hair or get it wet for 48 hours after treatment
- do not tie hair back or put it behind your ears for one week

For hair straightened by the Yuko method, these products are recommended:
KokoroG shampoo (300ml) £14.00
A regular-use shampoo with hydrolysed silk, keratin and sericin, which strengthens the hair and leaves it soft and smooth.
Alga KokoroG Treatment (240ml) £14.00
A regular-use intensive conditioner with keratin, sericin, algae, collagen, Vitamin E and amino acids that detangles, deeply moisturises and leaves the hair soft, smooth and strong.
Repair Through (200ml) £17.00
A leave-in conditioning spray with amino acids. This helps to prevent split ends and protects hair from damage caused by blow-drying and brushing. Spray on wet or dry hair. For optimum results, blow-dry the hair after each application.
Tsuya-pata (100ml) £14.00
A conditioning spray with hydrolysed silk that keeps the hair beautifully smooth and shiny. Can be used before or after ironing the hair.
